Grandeur Of The Seas

Built in 1996, Grandeur Of The Seas is the Grande Dame of the Royal Caribbean fleet - and she's still a young lady by shipping standards.  Royal Caribbean has always had a reputation for pushing the envelope of maritime engineering and, when built, "Lady G" as she is affectionately known, was no different.  She is one of the sisters in the Vision Class of ships, aptly named for their numerous glass-filled deck spaces.  Another item of note with this class of elegant vessel is the larger balconies and hallways, creating more "moveable" space for passengers and an overall more spacious feel. This is especially true in the deluxe suite categories, large then and larger by comparison now.

This great lady comfortably houses 1,992 passengers in double occupancy and maintains a standard crew of 760.  She features 996 staterooms, 94 of which are designated as suites. She offers swimming pools, including one area called The Solarium, which features a pool and hot tubs designated at all times as adult only (ages 16 and up).  There are additional pool and spa areas as well for the younger set.

Upon entering the ship, passengers are introduced to Lady G's main hub, The Centrum which, at six stories, plays hosts to bands, chamber musicians, aerial acts and glass elevators that whisk passengers between activity decks.  There is always a comfortable seat and drink to be enjoyed just watching the current spectacle or the passing parade of guests.

Dining is something most cruise passengers look forward to and Lady G does not disappoint. With several venues for casual and more elegant dining included in the fare, she also host a few specialty restaurants for an additional cost above the standard fare.

Fare included dining venues include the Park Café, Windjammer Café (buffet) and of course The Great Gatsby main dining room.

The notable extra-fee options include Chops Grille (Steaks, Chops and Seafood specialties), Giovanni's Table (Italian), Izumi (Asian hot rock and sushi) and then smaller bites at Ben & Jerry's and Latté-Tudes.

If your epicurean adventures have taken you too far from your everyday diet plan, there is a full service gym as well as a spa for the full array of treatments (and a beauty salon) - from couples massages to facials and hot rocks, the Vitality Spa is a little slice of paradise at sea.

Video Tour of the ship's features

It would be next to impossible to translate everything about the ship onto a single web page so we've added this video from producer ParoDeeJay that showcases Lady G's attributes very nicely from a Baltimore sailing that was fairly recent.
