Champions on the Path...

As our name implies, Golden Heart is committed to the idea that we live our best lives when we recognize and nurture the communities that exist in the microcosm of ourselves (mind, body, and Spirit) as one unique whole. In the macrocosm of the larger world, the healthy collaboration of individuals results in the well-being of all involved. Our dedication is to offer a meaningful suite of services focusing on fine-tuning the good and reimagining possibilities. Our approach is not a rainbow and butterflies approach to living but a practical pathway to life's meaningful and positive expression in all its wonder-filled forms. We'll start by introducing you to the two leaders who form the backbone of Golden Heart and, collectively, have committed themselves to the service of Transformation. They have both built lives on the premise of the possible and cannot wait to share it with you.

Rev. Dr. Sandra Jackson

It's been nearly five decades since Rev. Dr. Sandra Jackson was first introduced to the Science Of Mind. With the untimely passing of her 24-year old sister, tragedy and serendipitous grace joined together to bring Sandra to the First Church of Religious Science in San Jose, California and into the presence and tutelage of Dr. Robert Scott - the last of the cadre of students taught directly by SOM founder, Ernest Holmes.

Already a Masters-level educator and administrator, this union of philosophy, education and life experience engendered in Sandra a heightened sense of purpose for her own life and the desire to bring her  skills in education into the arena of The Spiritual Sciences.   After years of service and countless opportunities to serve and co-create with individuals and groups, Sandra's commitment to the Science Of Mind has yet to waiver and she is just as excited today to share it as she was when she encountered its soul-softening presence in 1972.

Sandra's original education background in elementary education contributed to her success as a Junior Church director in San Jose and later as Youth Director at the San Jose, California church  - a total of ten years dedicated to the service of Youth, including times spent as a Regional Director.

Sandra completed Practitioner Studies with her formal certification in 1979, continuing on to ministerial training which was completed in 1984.  She went on to found FireLight Church of Religious Science in 1985 and served as Director and Senior Minister until 2002.  During her tenure, Sandra also continued growing the church and the larger regional community through talks and classes at the National Level during United Church of Religious Science conferences at Asilomar as well as serving in the role of Ecclesiastical Support Minister (one of six) for the Western US - a role that continued to polish her expertise in recognizing, addressing and finding livable solutions to sometimes difficult situations.  Because of her years of dedicated teaching and service in the Ministry, Sandra earned an honorary Doctor of Divinity from United Church in 2003.

An aging mother and grandmother's needs called and Rev. Dr. Sandra moved east to Atlanta to be with them and also stayed to assist her daughter in creating and growing a business - one in which she also worked until her formal retirement in 2019.  During those years, Rev. Dr. Sandra also spoke to numerous Science of Mind communities and also Unity churches.  She continued her work in organizational support by collaborating with four ministers who developed a class on diversity for ministerial training.

Clearly, full retirement is not in the cards for Rev. Dr. Sandra Jackson. Along with Rev. Patty Rumpza, she is now continuing her role as teacher, guide, champion and gifted speaker as she brings her unique approach to the work of helping individuals and communities close the gap between their aspirations and their present realities.

Rev. Patty Rumpza

Transformation has been the keyword in Rev. Patty's life since she first encountered Science of Mind in 1987.  Originally from Minnesota in the frozen North, Rev. Patty's ministerial work has been focused in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.  Rev. Patty's work in service within the Science Of Mind community began when she created her first Youth Group in Houston and began her classroom regimen.

Rev. Patty's responsibility with her youth work on both the local and national scene with Science Of Mind grew substantially and she found herself in more leadership roles.  At the same time, she continued embracing the studies that would lead to her licensing as a Practitioner in 1994.  By 1997, Rev. Patty knew that she was a person transformed and Science Of Mind was no longer just a study of Spiritual Laws and practices. It had become a life work and so she entered the Holmes Institute as a Ministerial student, graduating fully in 2000.  During all of this, Rev. Patty also maintained her working life in small business development with focuses on compliance and bookkeeping.

Since that time, Rev. Patty has been busy building an impressive résumé of community building and a life of personal, practical service:
  • Assistant Minister at a community in Houston
  • Focused Youth and Family ministry with over 75 young people
  • Started LifeWorks Houston SOM Community
  • Supported small communities as interim minister
  • Senior Pastor at a congregation in Colorado that grew from 20 to 60 active, sustaining members; the church also grew in its community outreach and interfaith activities

Study didn't end with Ministerial School. Since graduation and during her years as a SOM Minister, Rev. Patty has attended the Parliament of World Religions two times, continued CSL training with a focus on SOM Community growth studies and Seminars, attended Oneness University in India five times (now a certificated trainer as well) and continues to take monthly courses.   Rev. Patty has learned and shares the conviction that our personal and group transformations are not a single objective but a way of being.

A gifted speaker, Rev. Patty blends a foundation in the teaching of SOM with a strong sense of humor and a "let's get it done" attitude towards real, effective and lasting change.  She loves to travel and share her own journey and watch others catch the fire that she has known for over 30 years in the service of others.

At the end of the day, Rev. Patty has a strong voice in her mission of service and alleviating suffering on the planet. Moreover, she wants as many people as she can reach to not just study the One but actually experience Oneness in a life-changing way.
